Welcome to NEEX.COM - NEw wave EXcellence!

The official home page of the Turntable.fm 80's alt/new wave Room.

Everybody is welcome to DJ!
To go straight to DJ Waitlist and put your name on it click here.

The room is chill -- great people and great music!
Playing stuff from the Late 70's through the Early 90's is totally cool if it has that 80's vibe.

There is just one rule: PLAY 3 and STEP DOWN. Thanks :)

The only other expectations are those of any civilized society.
If you can't be polite to each other in a social setting -- even a virtual one -- then stay out.

IMPORTANT! In case of room DRAMA that is not at all relatated to the awesome 80's band Dramarama click the play button to the left. This should alleviate all tension.

  • Roots and Shoots -- Cover Night -- Thursday 9 PM to Midnight
A fun showcase for original songs and covers with a connection to the 80's Alt/New Wave Room's standard playlist.
Playlist: Three basic criteria for selections.
    1) 80's alt/new-wave cover of earlier, perhaps better-known song.
    2) Cover of 80's alt/new-wave song, genre and date of cover open.
    3) Original, perhaps more-obscure, versions of songs later covered by 80's alt/new-wave artists, genre and date of cover is wide open.
    Play one and step down.

  • Fast Friday Night: 9 PM to 1 AM
The room format does not change but you play one and step down.

  • The special programming waitlists open up 1 hour before show time.

On Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, DJs who do not get a chance to play their three before show time can go back up and finish their set after the programming ends.

On Fast Fridays, anyone that was on the decks at show time can play three before they have to step down.

DJ waitlist queue: -- PLEASE LOOK BELOW THE WAITLIST TO READ ABOUT OUR FORMAL "AWAY FROM KEYBOARD" (AFK) POLICY

Regarding AFKs (Away From Keyboard):
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way when your turn comes up.
Bosses call you into meetings, kids need hugs, dogs need walking NOW.
So, keeping that in mind, we have set a policy on what happens to your place in line if you aren't around when we call you.

Our intent is to keep things fair for everybody while keeping the line moving.
The policy is this: If you aren't around when your turn is up, we mark you as AFK in the DJ Waitlist, along with the time.
We will then call the next person in line to step up and DJ.
When you come back from AFK, it is YOUR responsibility to un-mark yourself; we won't continually ping you.
This way you get to keep your place in line if the kids start screaming, and we don't clutter the chat channel with pings.

We will automatically take you out of queue after 90 minutes or so, in case you are not able to get back to remove yourself.
To be fair to everybody, we cannot hold AFK slots longer than 90 minutes.

One-and-down AFKs:
It's really hard to keep track of the list when things are moving fast, so we don't track AFKs during one-and-down special programming;
if you miss your turn, you have to sign up again. Thanks for understanding!
